What Does "Checked by VIN" Actually Mean?

Every car has a 17-character Vehicle Identification Number, its VIN. It's on your registration, your insurance card, and stamped on the driver-side dashboard. That number encodes your car's exact make, model, trim, and often the specific factory options it shipped with.

A listing that says "brake rotor for a Camry" is talking about the general model. Your actual Camry might have a different trim, engine, or model year than the one the photo was taken from, and the part might not match.
